Jagjit Singh

Update: We all Rotarians are in state of sorrow upon hearing about Jagjit Singhji’s passing away. May his soul rest in peace.  A Condolence meeting was held and rich tributes were paid.  A small account of Tribute is produced on this page. We pray for his family. Our condolence letter to Mrs. Chitra Singh can be viewed here.

Ghazal & Bhajan maestro Padma Bhushan Jagjit Singh is a silent yet large hearted philanthropist. His relation with Rotary Club of Nagpur started in November 2002 when he was invited to perform in a fundraiser for annual Hemalkasa Surgical Camp.

Jagjit Singh met Baba Amte at Ashok Van on the morning of the show and was so enchanted by him that on his next visit to Nagpur, he expressed his desire to perform again for the same cause and this time at an honorarium. He fulfilled his promise and Rotary Club of Nagpur  held his hugely successful Ghazal programme on 26th February 2006 where he was also inducted as an Honorary Rotarian, an association which still stands strong today.
